The journey to Base Camp is as incredible as the destination itself, passing through charming Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, and scenic valleys along the way. The ever-changing scenery—from rhododendron forests and suspension bridges to snowy mountain ridges—makes every step an unforgettable adventure.

Reaching Everest Base Camp is not just a trek; it is a journey of self-discovery, endurance, and inspiration. It leaves every visitor with memories of stunning vistas, vibrant local culture, and the profound feeling of standing in the shadow of the world’s highest summit.

16-Day Everest Expedition Program (From Athens)

Period:  On Request Basis 

Best trekking seasons:
• March – May (spring)
• October – November (autumn)
(Clear skies, stable weather, and excellent visibility)

 

Day 1: Athens → Kathmandu

  • Flight from Athens to Kathmandu (with a layover).

  • Arrival in Kathmandu.

  • Transfer to the hotel (Thamel area recommended).

  • Rest and light walking around the city.

  • Gear preparation (checklist: jacket, boots, sleeping bag, trekking poles).

 

Day 2: Kathmandu (rest & preparation)

  • Sightseeing: Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple).

  • Final gear check and purchase of any remaining supplies.

  • City exploration and tasting local dishes (dal bhat, momo).

 

Day 3: Kathmandu → Lukla → Phakding

  • Morning flight Kathmandu → Lukla

  • Arrival in Lukla (2,860 m).

  • Trek Lukla → Phakding (2,610 m) → 3–4 hours walking.

  • Overnight at a lodge.

 

Day 4: Phakding → Namche Bazaar

  • Trek Phakding → Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) → 6–7 hours.

  • Rest stops at the villages of Monjo & Jorsale.

  • First significant altitude gain for acclimatization.

  • Overnight at a lodge in Namche Bazaar.

 

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

  • Short hikes around the area for acclimatization.

  • Visit Everest View Hotel for a view of Everest.

  • Explore Namche Bazaar (shopping, cafes).

 

Day 6: Namche Bazaar → Tengboche

  • Trek Namche Bazaar → Tengboche (3,860 m) → 5–6 hours.

  • Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery.

  • Views of Ama Dablam and Everest.

  • Overnight at a lodge.

 

Day 7: Tengboche → Dingboche

  • Trek Tengboche → Dingboche (4,360 m) → 5–6 hours.

  • Rest stops and photo opportunities along the Imja Khola Valley.

  • Overnight at a lodge in Dingboche.

 

Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

  • Hike Nangkar Tshang or Chukung Valley for acclimatization.

  • Short ascents up to ~4,800 m.

  • Overnight in Dingboche.

 

Day 9: Dingboche → Lobuche

  • Trek Dingboche → Lobuche (4,940 m) → 5–6 hours.

  • Rest stops at Thukla.

  • Overnight at a lodge.

 

Day 10: Lobuche → Everest Base Camp → Gorak Shep

  • Trek Lobuche → Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) → Gorak Shep (5,164 m) → 7–8 hours.

  • Enjoy views of the Khumbu Icefall and surrounding Himalayas.

  • Overnight at Gorak Shep (highest lodge in the region).

 

Day 11: Gorak Shep → Kala Patthar → Pheriche

  • Early morning ascent to Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for panoramic views of Everest & Nuptse.

  • Return to Gorak Shep for breakfast.

  • Trek Gorak Shep → Pheriche (4,371 m) → 6–7 hours.

  • Overnight at a lodge.

 

Day 12: Pheriche → Namche Bazaar

  • Trek Pheriche → Namche Bazaar → 7–8 hours.

  • Rest stops at Tengboche & Dingboche.

  • Overnight at a lodge in Namche Bazaar.

 

Day 13: Namche Bazaar → Lukla

  • Trek Namche Bazaar → Lukla → 6–7 hours.

  • Rest and meals along the way.

  • Overnight at a lodge in Lukla.

 

Day 14: Lukla → Kathmandu

  • Morning flight Lukla → Kathmandu.

  • Overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Sightseeing or rest.

 

Day 15: Kathmandu → Athens

  • Free time in Kathmandu.

  • Departure for Athens.

 

Day 16: Arrival in Athens

  • Arrival and completion of travel formalities.

  • End of the trip.

 

Clothing

  • Insulated down jacket (warm, lightweight)

  • Fleece or softshell jacket

  • Waterproof and windproof shell jacket

  • Trekking pants (lightweight and quick-dry)

  • Thermal base layers (top and bottom)

  • Warm hat / beanie

  • Sun hat / cap

  • Gloves (thin liner + warm insulated gloves)

  • Hiking socks (wool or synthetic)

  • Extra socks

 

Footwear

  • Sturdy trekking boots (waterproof, broken-in)

  • Camp shoes / sandals

  • Gaiters (optional, for snow or mud)

 

Backpack & Bags

  • Daypack (25–35L)

  • Duffel or large travel bag for porter transport

  • Dry bags or ziplock bags (to protect clothes from moisture)

 

Sleeping

  • Sleeping bag (rated to -15°C / 5°F)

  • Sleeping bag liner (optional, for extra warmth)

 

Trekking Gear

  • Trekking poles (adjustable, with rubber tips)

  • Sunglasses (UV protection, glacier glasses recommended)

  • Headlamp with extra batteries

  • Water bottles / hydration bladder

  • Water purification tablets or filter

 

Personal Items

  • Sunscreen (SPF 50+)

  • Lip balm with SPF
